The author of the editorial, “Big Tobacco Attempts to Evade FDA Rules”, has a different approach to my research question. The cigarette companies believe that their products are not additicting and cause no harm. This author seems have to a different reasoning on why he chose the answer no. The author answered no to the question due to the companies’ lack of responsibility to admit their products are harmful. He does like not like the fact that their products do not tell people what they really cause such as cancer, emphysema and other types of lung disease. The author believes that if smoking really caused someone to have fun, laugh and gather, then the old ads would be accurate, but that is not really what happens. He does not feel these companies deserve to have their rights back because they have provided false advertisement of smoking. This author also believes that the tobacco industry sells a product that is inherently dangerous. The final conclusion of the author’s main idea is that he believes the companies deserve no rights because of the way they have hid the true problems linked to smoking.
This editorial is a good source to use because it has a different reasoning behind his answer of no. This option is so useful because no is majority of people’s answers on my question, so the option of this author is followed by many. The option of this author represents the majority of the people in this world today. This author’s idea on the situation was not clearly stated, but I could tell his point of view based upon his sarcasm in his writing. Overall, I believe that this author did a good job displaying this information about my current event and tied his point of view into it very well. I believe that one of the strengths of this author’s writing is that the author displayed his main point and applied supporting details to go along with them.
