During this video David Tate interviewed Greg Darnell first. Greg Darnell is a store owner who sells cigarettes. He said he is not sure what to think about the new law, but he knows the tobacco industry will change. He did not have a clear statement if he thought these companies should have their rights back or not. The president himself is appealing to the campaign to get cigarette companies to stop marketing to youngsters. He believes that these companies were targeting youngsters and needed to be stopped. This was shown through his signing of the bill from congress. The third point of view on the rights of these companies is of Russell Prusak, a thirty year smoker. He said that he would support anything that would help the children stay protected, even if that means keeping the rights of the cigarette companies away. He also talks about the targeting of the companies on the youngsters, starts them off at a young age and if it weren’t for the companies, these teens wouldn’t even start to smoke. The last point of view is that of Adolph Carter, he said it’s a bad habit that is hard to stop and even though he is a smoker, he supports the new law and the restriction of the rights of the cigarette companies. In the end, everyone in this video supported the new law, and supports to keep the restriction of the cigarette companies’ rights.
This video is a very valuable because it contained so many different types of views. Ultimately they have chosen the answer no to my question. I chose to use this source because it had all sorts of people being interviewed. First off, it had the president supporting the restriction of rights to the cigarette companies, and people tend to flow with whatever the president says is right. The significance of this option is that the president is a smoker, but yet he still supports this law and the blockade of rights of the tobacco industry. Also, two of the other people who were interviewed supported the blockade of rights to the cigarette companies and they were lifelong smokers. They agreed on this blockade because they know how addicting cigarettes can be because of their experience with them. They do not want these companies to target youngsters any more. These people do not want to see young teens getting addicted to cigarettes at a young age due to a cool advertisement. Ultimately, I believe this is my strongest source yet because it has a variety of people and a variety of ideas.
